From Mexico to the World
For years Mexico has shared much of its country’s richness with the world. The people of Mexico have inhabited this area for 8,500 years and have an incredible diversity of cultures including the Olmecs, Zapotecs, Totonacs, Toltecs and Mayans, among others. The products in this collection are from this area and were used and cultivated by the people of present day Mexico. The world has inherited these gifts that were an essential part of the development of Mexico and have forever enriched the world.
This collection was made to educate people about the most important products that were and are essential to the daily life of any Mexican and how these same products are now essential to people all over the world.
This collection took a year of research. Each piece contains relevant information about the classic symbols of the product, its name in Nahuatl, and other languages from around the world that use these products. It is important to note that in some cases the names have not much changed from the original.
The pieces were made from mixed media using a transfer technique, Yute fabric and acrylic on canvas. Original sizes are 24″ x 36″.
This collection is dedicated to all the people that recognize these products and like them, but especially to the Mexican people. I want to make them proud of who we are and where we come from.
